Our Story

The Girl's Day Out

'Biggest Tasmanian female mountain biking event'.

Last year, We had organized an exclusive mountain biking event for women, with 110 female participants, on a private property complete with shuttles, food, stalls, and entertainment.

The Girl's Day Out isn't just about a day out; it's a powerful statement of female presence in action sports. The reason behind this event is to carve out space for gender equality, challenge stereotypes, and eradicate the negative stigma associated with women in action sports.

Women face several barriers not only in Australia but globally:

  • Insufficient facilities, like toilets and changing rooms.

  • Limited pathways for beginners and opportunities for advancing their sporting careers.

  • Scarcity of social support and representation from other women in sports.

  • The cost of starting in sports.

  • Lack of respect for women trying their hand at it.

To overcome these obstacles, we need to construct, endorse, and support female involvement in sports. We can achieve this by:

  • Encouraging families to participate in sports with their daughters.

  • Establishing female-specific programs.

  • Advocating for schools to offer opportunities for girls to engage in action sports.

  • Implementing skill development programs to boost their confidence.

  • Offering free trial days and affordable event days.

  • Setting an example as role-models for other females.

  • Speaking out against unfair treatment.

  • Increasing female representation on club boards.

Reporting on these events and communities is a means of sharing authentic stories and experiences with the broader community, raising awareness, and promoting girls in sports. Statistics indicate that women who participate in sports enjoy better overall well-being, lead healthier lives, and maintain more active social lifestyles. Sports teach girls resilience, teamwork, communication, and the ability to forge friendships. These skills and confidence are assets that they can carry with them wherever they go.

I'm passionate about shaping a brighter future for women, and The Girl's Day Out offers a fun-filled day with an abundance of shuttles on private trails, offering breath-taking views of the stunning Tasmanian mountains. These trails cater to everyone, from beginners to pros, and even include a dual slalom course for those seeking a bit of friendly competition.

Within the event village, we have a selection of food, drinks, and stalls provided by local businesses. We're fortunate to have the support of our local shops, ensuring that the bikes keep rolling and the day proceeds seamlessly.

Together, we're dismantling the barriers that have long discouraged women from participating in this fantastic sport.
